Senior Vice President—Safety
Teryl’s responsibilities include the oversight, planning, and development of MV safety programs, processes, and strategies. Along with a team of highly qualified safety professionals, his focus is on creating a safety culture that promotes employee engagement and reduces the risks of vehicle collisions, passenger incidents, and employee injuries. He also creates and implements safety policy development, manages vendor relationships, and coordinates employee safety training.
Teryl has over 30 years of fleet safety management experience. He has extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements, including OSHA, DOT, FTA, NFPA, TSA, DHS, and EPA, and certifications in safety training, defensive driving training, substance testing, accident and incident investigation, root cause analysis, strategic planning, and inspections.
Prior to joining MV in 2012, Teryl served as national director of fleet safety for Dean Foods, supporting safety initiatives that resulted in a $1.7M savings in liability and workers’ compensation insurance costs. Teryl also served as group fleet safety manager for Frito-Lay, Inc. in Plano, Texas, and as a senior safety manager with DGO/FedEx in Memphis, Tennessee for 12 years.
Over the years he has been an active member of the Transportation Safety community, serving on numerous committees and boards. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Western Illinois University.
