John Calame
John Calame, vice president of fleet and facilities for MV’s west group operations, is a transit maintenance industry veteran who has managed MV’s fleet, facilities, and equipment for more than a decade. Under his guidance, MV’s asset management initiatives have improved the overall health and safety of MV’s operating fleet.
Reporting to MV’s west group president and responsible for the ongoing mentoring and direction of MV’s team of maintenance professionals, Calame’s scope of responsibility spans equipment maintenance, vendor relations, MMIS management, facility leasing, leasehold improvements, development and monitoring of fleet campaigns, transition activities, inspections/audits, and mechanic training. His breadth of experience encompasses Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) best practices, alternative fuels, stringent and new clean air/environmental regulations, federal regulatory compliance, national account management, and facility construction. He has been critical to MV’s strategic development, and his knowledge and experience have supported the company’s footing in the transportation industry as well as its clients’ confidence in the company’s competency.
Calame joined MV in 2001 after seven years as the National Director of Maintenance for Laidlaw Transit Services. While with Laidlaw, Calame had oversight of more than 165 maintenance locations. Prior to that, Calame served as a Regional Director of Maintenance for Pace Suburban Bus in Chicago, Illinois.
Calame is an active member of the APTA Bus Maintenance Facility Design Committee.
