As we begin our 37th year providing passenger transportation, I am excited about where we have been and perhaps more importantly, where we are headed.

I can’t think of a better time to be in this industry. In 2011, we saw public transit ridership increase significantly. I attribute this to a few things, but mainly the advances in transit technology, improving the reliability of public transit for riders of all modes of transportation; and a recovering economy, as the majority of public transit riders are commuters going to work and with high gas prices more are choosing to ride.

MV Transportation experienced tremendous growth in all business units last year. Most notably, we have re-entered the student transportation market with our school bus subsidiary, Reliant Transportation; we have begun production and delivery of the MV-1, the world’s first and only purpose built mobility vehicle; we are opening our first national call center in Dallas; and we have signed our first contract outside of North America. The MV Transportation team has grown to more than 16,000 employees and is approaching $1 billion in revenue. These are all great milestones for MV and we plan to continue this level of growth in 2012.

Our plans are heavily influenced by the passengers we are transporting. Fueled by the information age of open source software, social media and the like, these passengers are not only demanding cost-efficient and effective transportation systems but smart systems powered by cutting edge transit technology and luckily this is an area MV has been investing in for decades.

We remain committed to innovation for efficiency in all aspects of our business; whether client, passenger or employee focused and will continue to work with our customers to identify customized transportation solutions to fit their specific needs. Of course, this is all to ensure we remain true to our founding mission to provide freedom of mobility for all.
