From our humble beginnings as a one-bus operation with three employees, MV Transportation has grown to become the largest privately held passenger transportation contracting firm in the United States. The firm was started in 1975 by Alex and Feysan Lodde in their San Francisco studio apartment on Haight Street. This visionary husband and wife team served as the company’s first vehicle operators, dispatchers, road supervisors and general managers, and they continue to own and operate the company. Today, MV employs nearly 13,000 transit professionals and operates more than 7,000 vehicles in 24 states, the District of Columbia and Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Loddes remain very active in the company serving on the Board of Directors and providing valuable insight into the day-to-day operations.

It’s not just the size of our company that has grown; it’s also the scope of our services. In addition to our very successful paratransit services, MV offers cities, counties, transit authorities and private companies cost-effective and efficient transportation solutions in fixed route, flex route, commuter service and Medicaid transportation management. In fact, MV contracts with several entities to provide turnkey services, operating all modes of service under one contract.

Our clients include the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority; New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority; San Mateo County Transit District; Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority; Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority; Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority; Orange County Transportation Authority and the Fairfax (Virginia) Connector, just to name a few.
